Photoshooting...

Photographing all my latest finds in a sleepy neighborhood behind my apartment. There was the usual curious local having a sneak peak, I didn't mind though. All I kept thinking was I had to get this done before the rain came...when will Spring arrive?

VM hearts Vintage Shoes

Like most girls I have a love for shoes and all things vintage. I couldn't believe my luck when I came across a pile of vintage shoes at the local antiques market. There was Dior, Bally and special 'Made for Lane Crawford' shoes. There is a downside though, they were all in a petite size 36 and under, too small for my feet...ugly sister moment when I tried to squeeze them on...sigh

But all is not lost, I am passing on my vintage finds onto others through my etsy store ...vic&lily...
They will uploaded soon, so watch this space.

Have a seat...

I was recently in Shanghai for work and was lucky enough to have an afternoon to myself to wander the streets of the French Quarter, where I discovered my new obsession: Chairs.

台北

Curious character and his pup, Shilin Night Market

I was fortunate enough to visit Taipei a week ago and although it was raining, it was still a hustling, bustling city. Especially at night, especially for food...

Ps. I really wished I hadn't eaten dinner as these smelt sooooooooooooooooo, good.

Vegetables wrapped in some kind of bacon...drooling!

Island Life...

It has become very apparent to me in my 4 years as expat in HK that even the most outlying of the islands are still near to land. What I didn't expect was that an island where no vehicles were permitted (except emergency)  there would be a Wellcome supermarket. (No 7 Eleven though, too remote for that).
This was a discovery I made when I reached Peng Chau a mere 30minutes or so from Central by ferry. It was just as the boredom of HK Island was getting too much that I decided to jump aboard to Peng Chau with the hopes of an adventure.
Thankfully I wasn't disappointed. The island seemed to be inhabited by mostly the elderly who sat along the shoreline, people watching or playing Mahjong. It was really quite idyllic. The island's main industry had once been in the refining of lime and some ruins of lime kilns still remain. Now, I could've sneaked inside, but the return ferry was due and I didn't want to miss it. Absolutely nothing to do with the howling dogs and creaking trees...

One thing did strike me as odd though, there seemed to be quite a few boats on dry land...are they trying to tell us something?

Flower Lanterns or Lantern Flowers?

On my walks today I saw these pretty things. They remind me so much of Chinese lanterns, perhaps they came out for the festival?!

Blue

I love this image, I took it this morning when I passed a truck on Gage Street. The intensity of the blue is amazing. I also love that the paint has been layered over years and gives these doors a little character.

ps. I am loving my new camera.

Guess what I've got...

... a new camera! The Boy came up trumps and has given me a snazzy DSLR. (not that I dropped hints or anything, eh hem) So we took it out for a test run the other night and these are some of the shots.
Thinking about it makes me smile.
