Home from Home

When vintage hunting for vic&lily I often come across the weird and bizarre. What I found yesterday proved to be the strangest (in the best way) one yet...

Scotland embroidered onto a blouse!
Why there is grapes in the centre baffles me. What I do love is the name on the label. Couldn't get more Scottish.

Nice when you find a little piece of home from home.

ps. I didn't buy it...should I have done?

Bazaar...

On Sunday I took part in the Discovery Bay Backyard Bazaar. It was the first time I had ever done such an event with my vintage wares and I am happy to report that it was a success!

vic&lily vintage stall

The sun was shining which brought out the crowds, and steered them into my stall. I am really happy with how it turned out as I wasn't sure how the people of Hong Kong would react to vintage clothing. I had an interesting mix of customers from expat mums and young girls to middle aged local ladies.
A few friends came over to see the stall which was really nice and I am touched by their support. I am also very thankful to PB for getting up so early on a Sunday to help me.

The weekend...

The forecast for the weekend was much like all of last week.
Rain.
Rain.
And more rain with thunderstorms.

BUT

Luckily we were blessed with a break in the bleak weather and the sun came out.
Below is a few snap shots I managed to take of my goings on this weekend.
I am excited about selling my 'u p c y c l e d' vintage clothing. It's been a fun project to work on.

Happy Monday!

Vintage Make-over

So as you know I have a little vintage online shop over at Etsy.
Most items will run for 4months unless they sell (yay!), at the end of the run they can be removed or re-listed.
After some recent DIY inspiration I decided to take the latest 'expired' dresses and make them over vic&lily style.
I think they look much more wearable now, don't you think so?
Almost wished I'd done it sooner!

I will be re-listing these and a few others on the ...vic&lily... Etsy store soon.

Happy Hump Day!

Photoshooting...

Photographing all my latest finds in a sleepy neighborhood behind my apartment. There was the usual curious local having a sneak peak, I didn't mind though. All I kept thinking was I had to get this done before the rain came...when will Spring arrive?

Thrifty...

On my recent jaunt to the US I couldn't pass the opportunity to search through the jumble that collects within the many thrift stores. As an avid lover of all things vintage I couldn't say no to this 20s inspired dress (I had just watched The Artist and Midnight in Paris) and an old Polaroid camera. The dress I will be giving up and selling on my Etsy store but as for the camera its too good to part with just yet...

Beaded Beauty...coming soon to vic&lily on Etsy.

Love in LA

For fellow Polaroid lovers the Impossible Project have a variety of films to choose from to use on your old cameras. They even have new Gold frames...those I am dying to use!

VM hearts Vintage Shoes

Like most girls I have a love for shoes and all things vintage. I couldn't believe my luck when I came across a pile of vintage shoes at the local antiques market. There was Dior, Bally and special 'Made for Lane Crawford' shoes. There is a downside though, they were all in a petite size 36 and under, too small for my feet...ugly sister moment when I tried to squeeze them on...sigh

But all is not lost, I am passing on my vintage finds onto others through my etsy store ...vic&lily...
They will uploaded soon, so watch this space.
