Lovin' Lomo

My love for lomography is always there it is just a little bit stronger today. You see, I finally put my film in to be developed from my trip to the States last month. And when I got them back I was one happy bunny, here is why...

1. I had never tried the fancy red scale XR film that gives you cool, muted tones.
(ISO 50-200...but I think I set mine lower around 30, even riskier!)
2. My old Pentax was having light metering problems which had me worried.
3. I thought I'd ripped the film and would lose it all..eh hem.

The film gives pretty cool results, don't you think? It also helped that the Arizona desert just happens to have the perfect conditions to shoot said film. Really excited to use it again now...hopefully the sunshine will be out this weekend!

If you fancy trying it out for yourself you can get it at your local Lomo stockist or online...here

Diana mini x USA

When going on a road trip it makes sense to travel light...I however, always manage to end up with more than is required. Especially when it comes to what camera to take. I managed to bring 3 cameras (embarrassed face) on my trip to the US, not to show off you understand but because they all achieve something different or at least I hoped that they would. In my defence, the Diana mini doesn't take up that much space so it is the perfect travel camera.
It also turns it that the weather in western states of the USA are perfect for these little toys as they bring out the best in the film. I heart my Diana mini like it hearts the USA.

The first stop on our trip was the infamous ghost town of Jerome, with its creepy deserted mines and burnt down buildings.

Then it was onto Sedona and a hike to 'Devil's Bridge'.

Driving up to the Grand Canyon saw a change in the weather. Snow storms and cold wilds were not ideal for picture taking but it was an amazing place to see and definitely worth the visit.

After a drive into Nevada over the Hoover Dam it was only natural to stop at the 'fabulous' Las Vegas. Gambling has never been my strong point but it was fun and the added attraction of people watching was very entertaining.

With fear  of losing my soul to Vegas we headed (through more snow storms) to one of my favourite places...Los Angeles, complete with a walk down Santa Monica Pier.

A great end to a great trip.

Thrifty...

On my recent jaunt to the US I couldn't pass the opportunity to search through the jumble that collects within the many thrift stores. As an avid lover of all things vintage I couldn't say no to this 20s inspired dress (I had just watched The Artist and Midnight in Paris) and an old Polaroid camera. The dress I will be giving up and selling on my Etsy store but as for the camera its too good to part with just yet...

Beaded Beauty...coming soon to vic&lily on Etsy.

For fellow Polaroid lovers the Impossible Project have a variety of films to choose from to use on your old cameras. They even have new Gold frames...those I am dying to use!

Desert lovin'

I recently took my desert boots on an adventure to test them in their enviroment in Arizona, USA.

Please note: just because they are called desert boots doesn't necessarily mean that they are perfect for all desert conditions.
