Fire? Dragon?

A couple of weeks ago it was the annual Mid Autumn festival, which means the parks and streets are filled with people and lanterns. What I didn't know was that for 3 nights there is also a dragon, not only that its a Fire Dragon! I was excited just at the thought, you should've seen me when I went to witness this amazing spectacle.
It takes place every year in Tai Hang, which although it has tiny streets they were perfect for dragon chasing.
The whole place was swarmed with people trying to get a glimpse of said dragon which was covered from head to tail in lit, smoking joss sticks....made for a pleasant smelling evening but quite sore on the eyes when running after it. Worth it though, even if it did make me look crazy.

Flower Lanterns or Lantern Flowers?

On my walks today I saw these pretty things. They remind me so much of Chinese lanterns, perhaps they came out for the festival?!

Waterfalls and Water Gods

Today I took my new BFF (camera) for a jaunt on the bus to Wah Fu on the south side of the island, to visit the mostly unknown Waterfall Bay Park. One thing I noticed about the Wah Fu estate was that the population mainly consisted of people over the age of 60. Which is probably why the Waterfall Bay Park was deserted as they were all playing Mahjong. BFF and I sauntered down to find the waterfall and came upon these guys...

...after a quick map check we realised the waterfall was on the opposite side of the park. After a short and sweaty walk we reached the waterfall.

Its pretty and serene but very confusing...its smack bang in the middle of two residential estates.
Only in Hong Kong.

With square footage rather rare the only way to make buildings big enough to house the millions of people in Hong Kong is to go UP.

The Mid Autumn Festival is fast approaching and decisions need to be made on which lantern is right for the occasion. I am drawn to the little bunny ones...

...although, this angry birds one is kinda funny.
